She held the Deutsch Scholarship in African History at St Cross College, Oxford and completed her DPhil thesis in history in 2022, titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ora.ox.ac.uk\/objects\/uuid:6ed65ec4-e158-4742-988e-87ffe18a3f1a\">On the Representation of Visions in Coptic Hagiographical Texts<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Her research focuses on supernatural phenomena in hagiography and their implications for lived religion in Late Antique and Early Islamic Egypt. To this end, she is contributing entries on <a href=\"http:\/\/csla.history.ox.ac.uk\/record.php?recid=E07007\">Klaudios<\/a> and Merkourios to the Cult of Saints in Late Antiquity database and has recently been contracted to write a chapter for <em>The Oxford Handbook of Angels and Demons<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">In Oxford, Chlo\u00e9 held an Ashmolean Junior Teaching Fellowship from 2022 to 2023, worked and taught in the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, and collaborated on several projects on secondary epigraphy with Hana Navratilova, including \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/portal.sds.ox.ac.uk\/Graffiti_Gazetteer\">Graffiti Gazetteer<\/a>\u201d, and was the lead editor of <a href=\"https:\/\/brill.com\/display\/title\/69799\"><em>Graffiti Quest<\/em><\/a> <em><\/em>(Brill, 2026). She previously worked with Dan on the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ntvmr.uni-muenster.de\/web\/1clement\/home\">1Clement.VMR<\/a>\u201d project from 2020 to 2024 and, alongside Andy, became an active member of Oxford\u2019s Syriac Studies community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Starting today, Chlo\u00e9 will be working on the Coptic side of the project.\u00a0Welcome aboard, Chlo\u00e9!
